make haste

A rooster crowing signifies the end of a dark night and the arrival of light. As such, roosters are positively associated with time. With a fragment from a 1920s cookbook, 'make haste' would fit well in a kitchen nook.

Materials: 

This collage includes Japanese, vintage, and eco-dyed papers, as well as a corner of a playing card and acrylic and watercolour paints. A reclaimed shingle from a 100 year old barn in northern New Brunswick is its substrate.

In keeping with the salvaged wood substrate, the sides are unfinished, with bits of paper and paint drips visible. This piece has a copper wire hanger that can be folded back if you wish to prop it on a mini easel, bookshelf, mantle, or table. Signed on the back, this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
