A love of lilacs has been passed down among the women in my family for several generations. Created on a shingle from my grandfather's 100 year old barn, 'personal poems' is about family and memory. And, it allows for the presence of lilacs year round.

Materials: 

Along with text from an antique book of poems, this collage features rust-dyed textiles, including a scrap of a doily. Other layers include acrylic and watercolour paints.

In keeping with the salvaged wood substrate, the sides are unfinished, with bits of paper and paint drips visible. This piece has a copper wire hanger that can be folded back if you wish to prop it on a mini easel, bookshelf, mantle, or table. Signed on the back, this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
