The love of the sweet fragrance of lilacs has been passed down through generations of women in my family. Is there anything sweeter or more poignant than walking past an abandoned homestead, the house gone, but lilacs still blooming and thriving, all periwinkle and pink?
There is a multitude of layers on this painting. Some have been sanded away in places to allow others to come through. Vintage handwriting and a botanical sketch dating back over 200 years are featured.
The substrate is a gallery wood panel. The sides are painted in matte black. It is ready to hang, but it could also be displayed on a bookshelf, mantle, or table. Signed on the back, this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
