bud & leaf

Some of my favourite flowers, such as asters, don't bloom in the summer, but in between seasons. Memories of wildflower meadows influence much of my creative work. 'bud and leaf' captures those memories, but is also a reminder to grow and to leaf out.

Materials: The substrate of 'bud and leaf' consists of reclaimed wood. Vintage papers include sheet music featuring the title of this piece, as well as ads from 1900. Scraps of a sewing pattern add interest.
