We were on a month long camping trip to the Maritimes and I was feeling a bit homesick when I saw this on a bumper sticker. It was a reminder that even though we were wandering, we were not lost because returning home was always a possibility.

Materials: This piece is on reclaimed wood. A missing knot allows the light to come through, adding interest. The sky is 'borrowed' from a book of Monet's art. Decorative papers and watercolour pencils, along with pan pastels, were also used.

In keeping with the salvaged wood substrate, the sides are unfinished, with bits of paper and paint drips visible. This piece can be hung, but it is solid wood, so it's probably better displayed on a bookshelf, mantle, or table. If you wish to hang it, adhesive strips (e.g., 3M) will likely work best. Signed on the back, this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
