evening at the lake

One of my favourite recent camping moments was at Mew Lake in Algonquin Park. As the sun was in the shadows of the trees, we fed peanuts to a few bold blue jays.

This is one of a series of collages based on the paintings of ornithologist Louis Agassiz Fuertes. I have edited his images (they are copyright free). Top layers include watercolour pencils and pastels, as well as scraps of eco-printed fabric. The substrate of this piece is a piece of reclaimed wood trim. It could be framed, propped up, displayed on an easel, or mounted to a wall using poster hanging strips.

Signed on the back, this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
